Sam Welch – ESR12 – NIVA
Assessing the combined toxicity, cumulative hazard, and cumulative risk of PPCP in wastewaters in the future (WP6)
Sam completed his BSc in Biological Sciences at the University of Birmingham and his MSc in Ecological Applications at Imperial College London, both in the UK, where he studied the effects of mixtures of pollutants on invertebrates and bacteria. He has also worked as an ecotoxicology lab technician, and completed internships at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, UK and Institute for Nutritional Research, Peru, in radioecology and agrobiodiversity.
Sam’s project, ESR 12, aims to use existing data to predict and understand present and future risks posed by pharmaceuticals in wastewater in order to allow for more targeted mitigation and prevention.
